Mini minifig package feel guide for series 11

Ever since the Scientist came out, I wanted her. I wanted a couple of her. One for home and one for my work desk and one for my other friend who got her PhD in Biochemistry (btw, a couple is only 2).

So I looked online at some LEGO minifig feel guides at what would tell me was in the opaque package and they didn't seem to mention the details I thought were obvious:

  • Scientist: feel for her flasks which are narrow in the middle. She can be confused with the Waitress, but the Waitress cup is much narrower at the end while the flask is fatter.
  • Waitress: she's the only one with a flat oval platter. And rollerskates.
  • Lady Robot: she has a distinct turn key piece. Easy to tell from the rollerskates given the T-like feel of the key
  • Scarecrow: the bird is the marker, with long pointy wings.
  • Yeti: the large multi-pointed "headdress".
  • Holiday Elf: the present is actually 2 pieces. One is a flat rectangle, the only fig to have it.
  • Mountain Climber: only one to have the pickaxe.
  • Welder: the welder tool has the saxophone shape, but very very thin.
  • Gingerbred Man: this piece is the only one to have a lozenge like head.
I didn't cover the others as they are frequent, or have not come across them, or just don't have the time to dig them out to feel their distinct feel. Because really, all I wanted was the Scientist. The others ended up going to someone else's collection. :)

[edit] Apparently, there is a bump guide as well. Thank you to the person that told me about that!

Searching "Algorithm Crafter"

I came up with this. In fact, *all* searches with this string were me. In fact, I'm still the top search hit (the top 7 are related to me). I wanted a moniker that distinguished me from others and make me easily findable should I give someone the phrase.

And now I find out some yahoo out there has "adopted" my description string. You, sir, are unoriginal.

My other blog.

Due to various reasons, I opened this blog. However, I have another blog over at loriwilliams.tumblr.com and it is mostly text, believe it or not. It's mostly tech stuff at this point, but it's one of my interests. I am an engineer, after all. :)

What's an educational site you're really excited about?

I am in *love* with Khan Academy.

I signed up for the initial offering of Stanford's online Artificial Intelligence class. As prep, they recommended refreshing statistics knowledge and pointed to Khan Academy.

The man (Sal Khan) is awesome. His voice is awesome. His delivery is awesome. He breaks down concepts into little chunks that one can digest while watching the video on a treadmill.

The site has badges for various items including watching videos and taking quizes. The badges are addictive because they are so easily obtained.

So there's (one of) my plug(s) for Khan Academy.

So what is a power of 2 - 1?

There are certain numbers which are powers of 2 minus 1 and also prime. Not all of the powers of 2 minus 1 are primes. However, the ones that are are known as Mersenne Primes.

What is Ring Theory? You can take a whole math class to find out about that. :D

All the good names are taken

ringtheory.blogspot.com is taken.
mersenne.blogspot.com is taken.
mersenneprime.blogspot.com is taken!

But powerof2-1.blogspot.com is not!
